TOP 5 MALAYALAM MOVIES - 2009

5) Neelathamara

Nostalgic story and characters. MT and Lal Jose show how to make a movie success with out superstars. The song “Anuraga vilochana” is pasted to every ones heart. It is actually a visual treatment. How can we forget “Kunjimalu”. All the new comers are done there job.

4)Palerimanikyam.

Palerimaikyam is one of the best suspense thrillers in Malayalam film history. Renjith can be really proud of his efforts. This movie based on T.P Rajeevans novel “Palerimanikyam oru pathirakkolapathakathinte katha”. Mammootty’s Ahmed Haji is excellent.

3) Passenger

Renjith Shankar is the new find of 2009. He had excellent control over his movie. The movie has a new treatment. Mamta Mohandas was excellent in this movie. The director was able to keep the audience to edge of their seats.

2) Bhramaram

Bhramaram shows what Mohanlal capable of. Outstanding performance from Mohanlal.
I will consider, Shivan Kutty is Mohanlal’s best character ever. But this is not the best movie from Blessy . The jeep ride scenes have the quality of a Hollywood movie. The song “Annarakkanna vaa” was good.

1) Pazhassi Raja

What we expect from a MT, Hariaharan and Mammotty combination, is there in Pazhassi Raja. It’s a fantastic movie. Hariharan did a lot of homework for this movie. I will rate Pazhassi Raja as the number one movie of the year.

Culcutta news is Blessy's foruth filim, and it is entierly different from his previous filims. He did not followed the patterens of his previous movies such as Kazhcha, Thanmathra and Palunku. His previous filims were family oriented. But here he is tried tell a story which is related to humen trafficking.

Dileep, with his new look of straightened hair and glasses, looks very nice. He gives a stunning performance as a reporter. Meera Jasmine excels as usual. Indrajith does a good job in a negative role.

The songs are very nice , writteb by Vyalar Sarathchandra Varma and music by Debojyoti Mishra.

Overall CULCUTTA NEWS is a good movie.
